Hotels in Paris for Under $150
A friend and I found the lovely Hôtel de la Porte Dorée in a quiet corner of Paris called Porte Dorée. We enjoyed their many fine shops and huge public park in that neighborhood, and were able to get into the city very quickly by Métro. I believe our room was less than 90 euros. They have beautiful furnishings and friendly staff. — Nancy Welsh
June 16th, 2010 5:47 pm I stayed at the hotel de la Porte Doree 5 nights with my two children and my husband, and absolutely had a fantastic stay. We had a quadruple room, which was very comfortable for us 4. The two communicating rooms were very clean, the decoration was luxurious, the colors were bright and clear, the dark-wooded furniture gave a warmth atmosphere to the rooms. The hotel is run by a french/american couple, they are very nice and caring with their clients, you feel like you’ve been knowing them for years, there is a genuine “feel like home” spirit in this hotel. The hotel is not in the center of Paris, but the metro is just around the corner, it makes it very easy to move around. Plus, the Porte Doree is not far from the bois de Vincennes, which is a huge park where my children loved to play for hours. This is definitely not an ordinary 2 star hotel, it’s a luxurious one. For a really affordable price, you can make your stay a fantastic one by booking a room at the hotel de La Porte Doree… – Bethy K.
March 3rd, 2010 3:48 pm Hotel de la Porte Doree Looking for a sweet hotel where you really feel home and you have this chance to have a young and gentle american woman managing the hotel? Don’t look further: Hotel de la Porte Doree! We were told about this hotel from friends of ours that stayed there some time ago. We were not dissappointed! It is a lovely quiet little hotel with friendly staff (that can all – not only the manager – speak good english). It’s very close to the metro station which means you can get to everywhere you need to. Hotel de la Porte Doree is definitely an elegant and clean hotel with comfortable rooms. My room was beautifully decorated and had a fresh smell that lingered all day long – it was great to come back to a room like that. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable – they were always willing to help, even when we got back late in the night. The area itself seemed pretty safe – has some nice restaurants, amazing boulangeries and a pharmacy. For some reason, we never felt like it was far away from the heart of Paris – wherever we had to go was under 25mins by metro. We did our research before we booked our room and we felt that it was definitely a good value for the money. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone going to paris. Oh also wifi throughout so ideal if you want to take your laptop. – adriano07
